Case Study:
City of York Council
- Installation Date: September 2023
- Project Type: Sport & Fitness
Project Brief
The City of York Council were keen to create a ‘dog free space’ in the playing fields at Melrosegate in York. The ‘dog free space’ had already been identified and following a consultation of the local residents, the next phase of the project was to install a fitness station.
The local residents had requested a piece of equipment that could be used by older children and adults alike to build strength and fitness.
Following a competitive tender process, Team Sport & Play were selected as the supply and installation partner after offering the best value and most economically advantageous solution to the Council.
Project Outcome
Team Sport & Play installed a timber ‘Tone Up Zone’ fitness station during September 2023. During the installation several local residents commented on how much they were looking forward to using the unit.
Due to the timber being installed into a grassed area, Team Sport & Play suggested that the item was fitted with steel feet which would ensure the timbers were protected from water ingress and any potential strimmer damage whilst the grass was being cut.
The grassmat safety surfacing which was installed provides the necessary wear protection and impact absorbency whilst ensuring a cost effective surfacing solution.
